Pilot 1: Halkidiki, Greece
In Pilot 1 of the COCOON project, led by HEDNO, the objective is to develop the first demonstrator for a Distributed Renewable Energy Sources (DRES)-enabled community managed by IKE and interfacing with the Greek Distribution System Operator (DSO), HEDNO. This inaugural pilot, situated in Chalkidiki, Greece, aims to showcase the capabilities of the COCOON solution in detecting and mitigating composite attack vectors in scenarios involving remote monitoring and control of DRES deployments for Ancillary Services (AS) provisioning. The project will orchestrate monitoring and instrumentation requests from HEDNO to a community of Photovoltaic Panels (PVs) maintained by IKE. It involves the design and configuration of the pilot, deployment of attack vectors, and evaluation of COCOON’s performance in terms of diagnosis accuracy, threat mitigation response time, and incident reporting. Specific tasks include Frequency-related and Voltage-related Ancillary Services, addressing aspects such as headroom, slopes, reactive power, and voltage regulation. The pilot aims to achieve Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 6 and 7 through two evaluation phases, ultimately providing a pragmatic operational setup for AS instrumentation in the energy community.
